❄️ WINTER (December – February)
The “Heavyweight” Season
Target: Trophy Bass & Spawning Crappie
Why You Should Book: This is arguably the best fishing window of the entire year.
Bass: The giant females are moving shallow to spawn. This is your best chance at a 10lb+ lunker.
Crappie: This is PRIME TIME for “Specs.” The cooler water brings massive schools of Crappie into the shallows to spawn in the grass and reeds. It is common to catch limits of “slabs” during these months.
Best For: Anglers looking for a personal best Bass or a fish fry (Crappie).
🌸 SPRING (March – May)
The “Variety & Action” Season
Target: Aggressive Bass & Bedding Bluegill
Why You Should Book: As the water warms, the lakes come alive.
Bass: The bass have finished spawning and are hungry! Expect explosive topwater strikes and aggressive fights.
Bluegill/Shellcracker: This is the start of the famous “Shellcracker Spawn.” Giant Bluegill and Shellcracker move onto beds in the thousands. This is the ultimate experience for kids or anyone who loves watching a bobber go down every 30 seconds.
Best For: Families, kids, and anglers who want constant action.
☀️ SUMMER (June – September)
The “High-Volume” Season
Target: Schooling Bass & Active Bluegill
Why You Should Book: The days are long, and the fish counts are high.
Bass: Fish group up in large schools offshore or under thick mats. We often see 30-50 fish days on lakes like Headwaters.
Bluegill: They remain active all summer long around the vegetation lines, providing excellent fun in between Bass bites.
Best For: Catching high numbers of fish and learning technical “punching” tactics in the heavy grass.
🍂 FALL (October – November)
The “Feeding Frenzy” Season
Target: Active Bass & Schooling Crappie
Why You Should Book: As the first cool fronts arrive, the fish sense the coming winter and feed heavily.
Bass: They are chasing shad and baitfish aggressively. Fast-moving baits like spinnerbaits and swim jigs get hammered.
Crappie: As the water cools slightly, the Crappie begin to group up on brush piles and bridge pilings. They are hungry and stacking up!
Best For: Anglers who love “Power Fishing”—casting and winding to find active, hard-fighting fish.
